April was beautiful and the tulips in bloom, had alot of fun. Wonderful service and food. Would take the same trip again just to see the windmills. Nice beautiful room upgraded to category 2 Room 312 was very nice, but expensive. Great big window to look out at the views while getting ready. I wasnt in my room much except to sleep and shower so i would pay less next time and go down a category like category 4 which has a water level view and smaller. Just make sure your room isnt next to an elevator or laundry or ... engine. Could be noisy, unless u bring a small fan or white noise device to drown out the noise. I would give the cruise an A+ everything went very smoothly never had to wait around for anything and the game room library we painted in watercolors, played scrabble, dominos, cards, great fun. Now that we are finally back and "sort of" in a routine again, we would like to take this time to thank your whole team for putting together such a wonderful, educational trip!!!  We were so happy with the Ship, River Duchess, AND her staff.....everything was first class the whole way!

I was particularly impressed with the way my allergy to garlic was handled, no cruise before has held a candle to the service your team provided!  Chef Orlando was most gracious, making all my food just as special as everyone else's, and I had not one problem the whole trip.  Thanks ... goes also to our table waiter, "Vinni" as we called him, he was an absolute charm!  The whole staff felt like family, from the engine room to the wheel house, it was a wonderful, wonderful experience!  We have absolutely NO negatives about the trip at all, from the minute we arrived at the dock in Amsterdam to the time we disembarked in Vienna!  We can not see anything we would change other than the fact we wish now we had gone the whole way to the Black Sea!!!! We just can not say enough, we are most certainly going to book another cruise with Uniworld, and would have done it from the ship but, have friends who want to do a trip too (actually they are the ones who had to cancel because of an unfortunate fall)  We need to consult with them of course to make this perfect for all of us.

We certainly hope the tips we left got to all the very deserving staff!

I can truly say that this trip was a most wondeful experience and surpassed our expectations.
From the moment we arrived in Amsterdam until we flew from Vienna we could not fault the Uniworld staff.
This is truly a wonderful way to travel and we would do it all again tomorrow.
The whole trip was outstanding,the places, the staff and crew nothing was too much trouble.
The accomadation onboard was spotless and the house staff kind and efficient. The onboard entertainment was also very enjoyable.
We experienced so much and met wonderful people and will travel this way again, the ... only problem we have now is deciding where to go. Would recommend doing the pre and post cruise tours especially to people travelling from Australia and New Zealand as it gives you time to get over the longhaul flights.

We had a wonderful time, Staff and crew were great. Our cruise director Rik was especially wonderful. Always organized, informative and personable. Even having to change ships due to river flooding was seamless and enjoyable due to his attitude and care.

From arrival to departure we were made to feel like we were the most important guests on the ship. We covered a lot of territory and saw magnificent views. From rooftop views of Miltenberg, Germany, 2,000 year old Roman ruins and 16th Century churches. The tiny town and memorial Chapel where the famous Christmas Carole "Silent Night" was first sung and homes with bench pillows to match the shutters on the house. Not to mention all the Castles along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. It was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken, right down to the last ... evening sitting on the top deck and watching the moon rise over Vienna. We absolutely fell in love with Uniworld a couple of years ago. We went on the Tulips and Windmills tour of Holland and had a great time. We love the pace of the cruise, the fact that we usually were docked right at the town centre and were able to walk to those lovely "old town" attractions. We met some wonderful people and are still maintaining those friendships via e-mails. In fact we enjoyed that trip so much, we came home and booked for the European Serenade for August of 2009. Once again we loved ... this trip, met the most incredible people from Canada and Australia. Having fewer guests on the ship really gives you wonderful time and opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow travellers and once again we have made more friendships that are continuing on. Not only are they continuing on....we have now booked for the Burgundy/Provence trip in July of 2011 and some of our friends from the European Serenade trip are joining us on that trip as well. All in all if you love great food, wine, people and enjoy a relaxed pace seeing history at your feet, this is the type of travel for you. This is not about hanging out at the pool, casino, etc. there usually aren't pools on these smaller ships, but who needs them. I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise on the Rhine/Main/Danube rivers. The ship itself and the staff were wonderful. The staff in particular were helpful, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable- I could go on. The itinerary was good- a mix of cities and villages with mostly excellent local guides. The camaraderie that developed amongst the passengers was a delightful bonus- especially for myself traveling alone. I enjoyed some of the best conversation I have had in a long time. The pace is quite leisurely and I personally would prefer a little more activity, but that would be my ONLY change.

This was our third cruise with Uniworld and second on the River Duchess and after each trip we say it can't get any better. It does!!! The River Duchess is a 5 star river cruise boat with the best crew afloat. The boat is in outstanding condition, spotlessly clean, and very inviting. The food and service in the dining room was absolutely outstanding. Best of all was the entire staff. They all made everyone feel as though they were family. We would like to thank you for a wonderful river cruise in Holland. The Ship, the personnel and the food were wonderful. It put a new light into cruising better than the large cruise ships. We almost met everyone on the ship. The on shore excursions were outstanding with very knowledgeable tour guides. Our Cruise Director was beyond wonderful as he cared about all the clients. We enjoyed the Tulips and Windmills cruise in April of 2009. The flowers were amazing, and everything was perfect. The employees were courteous and helpful. The food was delicious and fixed fresh. We are vegetarians and had no trouble eating a nice variety of foods. The rooms were very nicely decorated and we felt right at home. Our cruise director even helped us by getting directions to Corrie ten Boom's house in Haarlem, that we wanted to visit while we were in Amsterdam. We highly recommend this cruise!
